The Faith of the Centurion’s Servant: Trust Without Seeing Part 4: Living with Unshakable Trust - Applying This Faith in Daily Life

Published on 9 October 2025 at 08:00

When Jesus heard the centurion’s words, He marveled. This Roman officer, a man outside of Israel, believed with such depth that even Jesus Himself said, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.” (Matthew 8:10)

What kind of faith makes Jesus marvel? The kind that believes without seeing. The kind that trusts without proof. The kind that endures when nothing around us seems certain.

Unshakable faith doesn’t mean life is easy. It means our confidence in God stands firm no matter what comes our way.

What Unshakable Trust Looks Like

The centurion’s story shows us that real faith is not just about moments of belief; it’s about a lifestyle of trust.

When we live with unshakable trust, our hearts remain anchored even when waves crash. We don’t crumble when prayers seem unanswered or when God’s timing feels long. Instead, we remind ourselves of who He is - faithful, sovereign, and good.

Psalm 125:1 says, “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.”

Unshakable trust isn’t loud or dramatic. It’s steady. It’s the quiet confidence that says, “God, I don’t see it yet, but I know You are working.”

Faith That Perseveres

Every woman who walks with God will face seasons that test her faith.

For some, it’s a diagnosis that changes everything. For others, it’s a marriage that feels fragile, a prodigal child, or a dream that hasn’t yet come to pass.

In those moments, faith isn’t proven by how strong we feel, it’s proven by Who we cling to.

Think of Job, who lost everything yet declared, “Though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him” (Job 13:15). Or Mary, who accepted the angel’s message with simple surrender, saying, “May it be to me as you have said” (Luke 1:38). Or Daniel, who kept praying when it could have cost him his life.

Each of them lived out unshakable trust, not because life was easy, but because God was worthy.

When Trust Feels Hard

Let’s be honest, trusting God is beautiful in theory but hard in practice. Especially when the waiting feels endless or the outcome hurts.

Maybe you’ve prayed for years for something that still hasn’t happened. Maybe you’ve done everything “right” and still find yourself in the middle of a storm. You’re not alone.

Even the disciples, who walked beside Jesus, wrestled with trust. When the storm raged on the Sea of Galilee, they cried out in fear. Jesus asked, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” (Mark 4:40).

Faith doesn’t mean we never feel afraid. It means that when fear comes, we choose to stand on the truth that God is bigger than our storm.

Trust doesn’t silence our emotions; it steadies them under the weight of His promises.

Living Faith Daily

So how do we live with unshakable trust in real life - in school pickup lines, office meetings, doctor visits, or quiet moments at home?

Here are a few ways to apply this kind of faith every day:

1. Remember God’s past faithfulness.
When doubt creeps in, look back at all He’s already done. Keep a list of answered prayers and moments of grace. Like David said in Psalm 77:11, “I will remember the deeds of the Lord.”

2. Surrender control daily.
Faith doesn’t mean figuring it all out. It means releasing it into God’s hands. Pray each morning, “Lord, I trust You with what I can’t control today.”

3. Replace worry with worship.
Worship reminds your soul who’s in charge. When you choose to praise in the middle of uncertainty, you shift your focus from fear to faith.

4. Speak truth over your circumstances.
Proverbs 18:21 reminds us, “The tongue has the power of life and death.” Speak God’s promises over your situation - out loud - and watch your heart strengthen in the process.

5. Stay rooted in His Word.
Faith flourishes in soil watered by Scripture. When you spend time in God’s Word, trust becomes your natural response to life’s challenges.

A Modern Example of Unshakable Faith

I once heard about a young mom who prayed faithfully for her husband’s salvation for years. There were times she nearly gave up. Yet, she kept praying, trusting, and speaking words of faith over his life.

It wasn’t overnight, but one day, without warning, he gave his heart to Christ. Her years of prayer, faith, and perseverance became the testimony that transformed her entire family.

That’s what unshakable trust does. It believes that even when nothing seems to change, God is still moving behind the scenes.

The Reward of Trust

Jesus said to the centurion, “Go; let it be done just as you believed it would.” (Matthew 8:13)

Faith brought healing. Trust opened the door to a miracle.

When we live with unshakable trust, we invite God to work in ways beyond our imagination. The reward of faith is not always instant, but it is always certain, because our faith rests in the One who cannot fail.

Isaiah 26:3 promises, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” That’s the peace of unshakable trust, the calm assurance that no matter what happens, we are safe in His hands.

Closing Reflection

Faith that pleases God isn’t about perfection, it’s about persistence. It’s about showing up, believing again, and saying, “Lord, I still trust You.”

Whether you’re waiting for a miracle, walking through the unknown, or learning to let go, take heart. The same Jesus who marveled at the centurion’s faith delights in yours, too.

He sees your quiet prayers, your tears, your faith in the unseen. And He is faithful to honor it.

Closing Prayer

Lord, thank You for reminding me that true faith is not about seeing but trusting. Help me to live with unshakable confidence in Your promises, no matter what my circumstances look like.

When life feels uncertain, anchor my heart in Your Word. When fear rises, fill me with peace that only You can give. Teach me to rest in Your authority, to speak faith over my life, and to act with courage and obedience.

I surrender every worry, dream, and unanswered prayer to You. Strengthen my trust so it reflects the quiet confidence of one who knows her Father is faithful.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
