It’s that time again. Time to check in with you all and let you know what’s been going on with my health journey.
I honestly can’t remember the last time I stepped on the scale, so I have no idea what my current weight is or whether I’ve lost anything at all. What I can tell you is that my clothes still fit about the same as they did last month. So, if I’ve lost or gained anything, my guess is that it probably hasn’t been much.
This past month has been difficult because I’ve spent a good portion of it sick. Allen went on a business trip and, when he came home, he brought something with him. It wasn’t a souvenir. It was some kind of cold, maybe covid, but he wasn't tested, so we don’t know exactly what it was. Needless to say, he passed whatever it was on to me and my son.
I was out of work for three and a half days, and when I went back, I still wasn’t 100%. A few weeks later, I’m still not completely back to normal. And ironically, as I’m writing this, Allen is on another business trip. I’m praying, and I hope you’ll pray with me, that if he brings something home this time, it will be an actual souvenir.
Because I’ve been sick for so much of the past month, I haven’t really focused on my health concerning diet and exercise. I haven’t been watching the scale, and I haven’t been able to walk nearly as much as I had been. When you don’t feel well, sometimes your focus simply shifts to getting through the day and getting better.
Now that I’m starting to feel better, my goal is to get back into a regular routine. I want to get back to walking consistently and being intentional about taking care of my body. I know it may take a little time to get back where I was, but I don’t want a difficult month to become a reason to stop.
Besides being sick, everything else has been okay. I’m still dealing with some tiredness, although I’m not sure how much is from being sick and how much could be related to the hypothyroidism. I’m continuing to work through that and trust God with the process.
So, there’s no big number to report this month. No dramatic change in the way my clothes fit. Just another month of learning to keep going, even when things don’t go according to plan.
I’m asking you to pray for me as I get back into my routine. And if you’re on your own health journey, I’d love to hear how you’re doing, too. Sometimes knowing someone else is walking through the same kind of season makes it a little easier to keep going.
I’m still here. Still trying. Still trusting God. And still learning what it means to honor Him with my body, one day at a time.
Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for being with me in every season, even the ones that don’t look the way I hoped they would.
Help me as I get back into a healthy routine. Give me strength, discipline, and wisdom to know what my body needs. Help me not to become discouraged when progress is slow or when life interrupts my plans.
And Lord, I pray for every person reading this who is on their own health journey. You know their struggles, their frustrations, their hopes, and the things they may not have shared with anyone else. Give them strength when they feel discouraged, wisdom to make healthy choices, and the determination to keep going when they want to give up.
Help each of us remember that this journey is not about perfection. Teach us to honor You with our bodies and to trust You with the process, even when we can't see the progress yet.
Give us the strength to keep going and the wisdom to trust You with the results.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
